Athena Camps is an all-girls, mentorship-driven camp with an all-female coaching staff. Every coach is background-checked and extensively trained in youth development, and the staff focuses on female mentorship. The camp uses an age-appropriate curriculum for each level, including Mini Camp for grades K–2, Junior Camp for grades 3–5, Middle School Camp for grades 6–8, and a Coach in Training program for grades 9–12, creating an opportunity to advance from camper to coach. Daily sharing circles are part of the schedule and are used to build voice and agency. All activities are designed around empowering girls, with an emphasis on personal growth rather than competition, and the program integrates sports and arts under the theme “All-Girls. All-Day. All-Empowerment” and “Sports + Arts Combined.”

Athena Camps was founded in 2011 and has been running for over 14 years. The program reports that it has empowered over 12,000 girls and also cites 13,000+ girls empowered. It is described as “Trusted since 2011” and notes that 96% of parents surveyed recommend Athena Camps. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association as an ACA accredited program. The leadership team is led by Aby Ryan, Founder & CEO of Athena Camps. Athena Camps states that its vision is to build communities of girls and women who nurture and uplift each other in order to have a positive lasting impact on the world.

Parent feedback includes comments that the program is positive and empowering, with friendly and caring coaches, and that parents appreciate the daily book and craft that support the camp theme. Parents report that their daughters came home with stories, shared what they learned, and in some cases wanted to return every year until they are old enough to be a coach. Several parents mention that their children, including those who were hesitant to join new groups, were excited to return each day and that their daughters grew in confidence, friendliness, and athletic ability. One parent notes that the Coach in Training program resonated with their daughter and that they could see increased confidence from the experience. Another parent shares that their child looks forward to Athena Camps every summer and values trying a variety of physical activities in a supportive, fun, and inclusive environment.
