Each Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios instructor is hand-picked and trained by the Board of Masters through Z-Ultimate University of Martial Arts Professionals (ZUUMAP), where they undergo training in the Classical, Tactical, and Practical aspects of the Ultimate Kenpo System, and they continue to train weekly under the Board of Masters. The program uses a Dynamic Mastery Method of instruction and features Ultimate Kempo, a blend of karate, kung fu, and jiu jitsu. The program has a Code of Conduct for dojo behavior and etiquette, including removing street shoes before entering the dojo, not bringing food, gum, or drink into the dojo, not wearing jewelry during class or practice, and turning off or silencing all cell phones and electronic devices. Full uniforms with the Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios logo are required for all classes and testing, must be clean and odorless, and black uniforms may be worn starting at the rank of Purple Belt, while mixed black and white uniforms are reserved for instructors. Full safety equipment is required for all students while sparring, including headgear, gloves, forearm and shin pads, foot protection, and a mouthpiece, and groin protectors are required for all male students.
The stated mission of the program is to inspire the men, women, and children of its communities to realize their personal best through the timeless traditions of the martial arts in an environment built upon respect, health, and happiness.
