Silverlake Conservatory of Music is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Its mission is to facilitate a dynamic music education and to teach beginning and accomplished musicians of all skill levels, with a primary focus on the youth of the community while welcoming all to participate. The program offers private music lessons and a variety of ensemble classes at a reasonable cost. It grants scholarships to children who qualify, providing free lessons and instruments. Performances and recitals put on by the Conservatory are described as a fulfilling experience for the students and an outreach to the community. Silverlake Conservatory of Music was founded in 2001 and first opened its doors at Sunset Junction. In October 2016, after outgrowing the Sunset Junction location, it moved into its current home. The Conservatory states that it strives to address the decrease in arts education in schools while providing cultural enrichment to the community at large. Its scholarship mission statement explains that scholarships are provided to children whose families would otherwise be unable to afford lessons, supported by personal and corporate contributions, musical instrument donations, and in-house fundraising activities.

The Conservatory notes that it is located in a 1930s brick building with 13 state-of-the-art lesson studios of various sizes, a recital space, a retail store, and a lobby. The on-site retail store offers essential supplies for the study of music, starter instruments, instruction books, music books, accessories, and apparel. The facility is ADA compliant. A parking lot is available for students taking one-on-one lessons for the duration of their lesson, while ensemble classes, summer camps, workshops, and recital guests are required to find offsite parking. The Conservatory notes that it is located a quarter mile from the Vermont/Sunset Red Line station and a number of bus stops.
