The program uses the SwimRight Method, a proprietary curriculum that includes the swim-float-swim technique, freestyle stroke, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly stroke, and work on starts and turns. SwimRight Academy also offers a SwimTots program for very young children, open water swim events, and CPR, First Aid, and lifeguard courses.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
SwimRight Academy runs a year-round swimming program that offers lessons to people of all ages and accommodates children as young as 3 months old. The program uses a step-by-step approach that emphasizes proper body positioning and stroke mechanics, with each level using a specific set of skills and drills from early water safety to advanced techniques and endurance exercises. The program is taught by certified, caring instructors who maintain a constant presence in the water with the students and is described as providing a secure and nurturing environment.
SwimRight Academy was founded in 2005 and is based on over 20 years of teaching and developing its learn-to-swim program. Since the swim academies were first founded, they have successfully taught over 40,000 children, and overall have taught over 45,000 students, with 300+ cheerful reviews from parents and community members. At the end of 2018, founder Lenny Krayzelburg rebranded the company and implemented a franchise program.
The program’s mission is to teach water safety and inspire its students to become confident swimmers. SwimRight Academy was founded by Lenny Krayzelburg, a four-time Olympic gold medalist from the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, who served as team captain of the 2004 US Olympic Swim Team. His credentials include being the 1999 and 2000 USA Swimming Swimmer of the Year, 1998 World Champion in the 100m and 200m backstroke, holding 5 world records in backstroke, and winning the 2001 World Maccabiah Games. He is a member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame (inducted in 2011), USC Sports Hall of Fame, and International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, and is also a member of the International Jewish Hall of Fame. Krayzelburg graduated from the University of Southern California with a major in finance and business administration and serves as treasurer of the Michael Phelps Foundation, a board member of Tikva Children's Home, and a board member of the American Friends of Israel Sport Center for the Disabled.
SwimRight Academy has a partnership with the Jewish Community Centers Association (JCCA) to open additional swim school licensing locations across the country, including swim schools in Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts, with locations and partners in Miami, Brooklyn, Boston, and Dallas. Krayzelburg is also described as an active supporter of the Jessie Rees Foundation.
Parent testimonials mention learning with a professional instructor as an adult, describe that the program “teaches resilience” and a “positive attitude,” and note that one child “always loved swimming since he was a little baby.” Parents and students mention that their favorite part is “the people, and the coaches,” describing them as “so nice and wonderful,” and say “we just love all the instructors,” calling it “a really good experience of being here.”
