The Miracle Project uses groundbreaking and evidence-based methods developed by its founder, Elaine Hall. The program focuses on building communication, self-esteem, and life skills for neurodivergent and disabled individuals, including those with autism and individuals of all abilities, both speaking and non-speaking. It focuses on the strengths and abilities inherent in each participant and develops a unique neurodiverse community. Through shared experiences with peers and volunteers, individuals with diverse backgrounds, communication styles, and abilities find their voice, develop their talents, and rehearse for life. The program features original music videos created with and starring participants, including multi-modality communicators and a fully inclusive and neurodiverse Company Class.
The mission of The Miracle Project is to create a community where the authentic voices, passions, and stories of neurodivergent individuals with and without disabilities are celebrated, elevated, supported, and belong. Its core values include that everyone belongs, listening to everyone’s story, celebrating neurodiversity, appreciating and celebrating individuality, understanding others by first understanding ourselves, and fostering communities of support. The Miracle Project is generously supported by a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles. © The Miracle Project 2019.
Parent testimonials describe the program as crucial for social development, nurturing friendships, and creating a feeling of confidence in abilities. Parents report that The Miracle Project has taught valuable life lessons, given tools needed to be successful in a job and everyday life, and helped self-esteem. One parent shares that her daughter went from shy and withdrawn to confident and outgoing. Another parent notes that through singing and performing with The Miracle Project, her son found his voice and a community of peers and mentors, and that he is accepted just as he is. A volunteer describes kids with different abilities working together to create an original musical and reports seeing children go from being unable to speak to singing and dancing on stage, and states that working with The Miracle Project has changed her life.
