About

The Young Actor’s Studio offers acting classes, workshops, and productions for young actors. The program includes a focus on stage and on-camera work through its Stage to Screen: Real Acting Training. Acting classes are centered around encouraging and praising each student for who they are and merging this into their work, and students learn to create a unique, original character that is truly their own. The Young Actor’s Studio offers acting classes for kids, teens, and young adults.

• Ages: 5–18 years old

The Young Actor’s Studio was founded in 1996 and is described as a supportive and nurturing environment for young actors to develop their craft. Its stated goal is to develop the young actor’s craft through classes, workshops, and productions. The program’s founder and current artistic director is Jeff Alan-Lee, who has taught and directed at various private and public schools and youth shelters, as well as at The Lee Strasberg Institute in both New York and Los Angeles. The artistic director’s book, A Young Actor Prepares, was released by Applause Books.

Helen Hunt, an Academy Award–winning actress, described A Young Actor Prepares as a book that works with young actors from the inside out, using established acting methods and emphasizing creative self-expression and the creation of characters.
