About

UCLA Summer Sessions High School Programs offers high school students the chance to enroll in UCLA Summer Courses, Summer Intensives, the Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP), the Summer Precollege Focus Series, and the Bruin Ascent Summer Experience (BASE). Through these options, students can take 100+ in-person courses in over 30 subject areas, participate in accelerated three-week Summer Intensives that carry the same amount of UCLA credit as longer courses, and join three-week subject-focused programs that include hands-on projects, performances, field visits, and guest lectures. Selected students in BASE enroll in one UCLA summer online course free of charge, are paired with a UCLA undergraduate mentor, and take part in co-curricular workshops, and all high school participants study alongside UCLA undergraduates in programs that can include co-curricular enhancements with a career focus and professional development opportunities.

Summer 2026 registration is open, and thousands of visiting students from around the globe attend UCLA Summer Sessions. The program states that scores of minors, including accounting, entrepreneurship, film and TV, and statistics, can be completed in Summer Sessions alone, and that among UCLA students who graduate within four years or less, over 77% took courses over the summer. The UCLA Bruin community is described as being founded on the principles of respect, integrity, accountability, excellence, and service.

For California high school students in grades 9–11 as of spring, UCLA Summer Sessions offers Summer Scholars Support, which is a limited number of need- and merit-based partial and full scholarships. The Bruin Ascent Summer Experience (BASE) is described as a six-week online scholarship program for current 10th–11th grade California high school students from economically under-resourced communities.
