UCLA Summer Sessions offers more than 800 courses and programs and hosts thousands of visiting students from around the world. High school students can earn UCLA credit through Summer Sessions, including through Summer Courses, Summer Intensives, SCIP, the Summer Precollege Focus Series, BASE, and College / Professional Summer Institutes. Summer Intensives offer an accelerated learning experience that can allow completion of a year-long series in one summer, and most summer courses are six weeks long and fast-paced enough to earn credit while also working, interning, and having fun during the summer months. Summer Fast Pass courses are selected to help students earn credit toward graduation requirements and make strategic progress in a major or minor, and scores of minors, including accounting, entrepreneurship, film and TV, and statistics, can be completed in Summer Sessions alone.

The Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) allows students to take one to two UCLA courses alongside UCLA undergraduates with co-curricular enhancements that foster academic growth and college readiness. The Summer Precollege Focus Series offers three-week comprehensive and immersive study of a chosen subject with hands-on projects and performances, field visits, and guest lectures. The Bruin Ascent Summer Experience (BASE) is a six-week online scholarship program for current 10th–11th grade California high school students from economically under-resourced communities; selected students enroll in one UCLA summer online course free of charge, are paired with a UCLA undergraduate student mentor, and participate in co-curricular workshops. Scholarship opportunities are available for California high school students through Summer Scholars Support, which offers need- and merit-based partial and full scholarships for qualified California students attending grades 9–11 as of spring.

College / Professional Summer Institutes provide specialized programs in areas such as business, marketing, architecture, and film and TV. University Studies 1 (“Ace the College-to-Career Transition”) can be added at no additional cost by UCLA students already enrolled in summer courses. Among UCLA students who graduate within four years or less, over 77% took courses over the summer. Summer Sessions offers flexibility with online and accelerated courses to allow pursuit of travel, work, or internships alongside studies, and summer offerings include career-preparatory experiences in addition to academic credit.

UCLA is described as a world-renowned university and is home to students, faculty, and alumni that include Nobel laureates, MacArthur fellows, and Olympic medalists. The UCLA Bruin community is founded on the principles of respect, integrity, accountability, excellence, and service.
