Kokoro Martial Arts Training Center & Aikido Central Coast

Kokoro Martial Arts Training Center & Aikido Central Coast offers Aikido classes that include traditional and innovative training. Classes include weapons training with the bokken (wooden training sword), the jo (straight staff), and the tanto (wooden knife). Instructors usually demonstrate principle-based techniques, and then students practice together under the instructor's supervision, with weapons training incorporated into the classes.

The dojo was formed in 2012 and has several senior instructors with many years of teaching experience, who also train in each other’s classes and see themselves as students pursuing the same goals as every other student. The stated mission is that through safe and rigorous training, Aikido students gain confidence and evolve in their proficiency of techniques and appreciation of Aikido principles. The dojo is affiliated with the California Aikido Association with a direct link to Hombu Dojo in Japan, the Aikido World Headquarters. Aikido Central Coast is located in Los Osos and draws students from San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Atascadero, Morro Bay, and Paso Robles. The program welcomes students of all styles of Aikido to visit and train, and families are directed to contact Michele Simone to register.
