Mini Melodies (Music Together® at Lyrics and Melodies Studio) offers group music classes where children and their grownups sing, dance, and explore music together. Classes include music activities ranging from lullabies to full-on jam sessions, and some classes introduce basic drumming skills through Rhythm Kids.

Mini Melodies is a branch of musical offerings at Lyrics and Melodies Studio specifically for infants, toddlers, and bigger kids up to 8 years old. Each week in Music Together® classes at Mini Melodies, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and the grownups who love them gather for family music time. Mini Melodies uses the international, research based Music Together® program and curriculum, and also offers Rhythm Kids, which guides children through music and movement activities where they can begin to take charge, lead others, be musically creative, and explore basic drumming skills. Mini Melodies offers parent participation based child group music classes, preschool visits, and booking of musical birthday parties, and also offers Music Together® Generations classes where “Musical Grandfriends” join the music-making circle. Lyrics and Melodies Studio offers group classes, camps, workshops, and events, and describes its approach with the phrase “LOCAL LOVE ☼ INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES.”
Lyrics and Melodies Studio began in 2010 in the living room of a tiny college apartment, moved into a larger apartment with a dedicated music room in 2011, into its first small commercial space in 2015, and into its studio home in Los Osos in 2017. Mini Melodies began in 2014 as part of this studio. The studio’s mission statement is that participants will be inspired and motivated to become the most joyful musician they can be. The leadership team, Lacey and Danielle McNamara, first met through music while performing together in the musical “Annie Get Your Gun” at the SLO Repertory Theatre and later married on that same stage in 2013.
Mini Melodies holds parent participation based child group music classes in Cambria, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Templeton, and Los Osos, and Music Together Generations classes are held at Creston Village in Paso Robles. One parent, Melissa, shares that she has seen her son’s love of music grow since beginning Music Together classes through Mini Melodies and describes the program as fun and invaluable. Another parent, Katie, says the music is wonderful, that her toddler sings the songs everywhere they go, and that the CD is very helpful on long car rides. A parent named Kris Vander Weele describes the studio as having a balance of challenge and reward and highly recommends it, and another family states that they would not take their children to any other studio in SLO and describes the quality of lessons and professionalism by Danielle and Lacey as world class.
