Alyce’s Art Studio offers fine art drawing classes, painting classes, camps, and workshops for kids and teens. Students work in drawing, painting, and sculpture as part of the studio’s fine art programs.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and studio options Monday–Friday in the afternoon and early evening, with additional Saturday daytime hours
Alyce’s Art Studio has been offering fine art drawing and painting classes, camps, and workshops for kids and teens in Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach since 2011. The studio focuses on kids and teens fine art classes and has instructed more than 1,200 students since opening in 2011. Founder Alyce Marie leads the program.
The studio’s stated mission is to change lives with the power of art by providing high quality fine art education and instruction to children and teens in Los Angeles’ South Bay. Its curriculum encourages self-expression while building on traditional skills and contemporary ideas, in a respectful and supportive environment that is described as conducive to higher education.
Alyce’s Art Studio has an ongoing collaboration with The Memory Project, through which students create portraits as special mementos for children around the world who face daily adversity, including children from Afghanistan, Syria, and Nigeria. The studio holds annual benefit events to raise money and awareness for Free Arts LA and has raised over $20,000 for charities and non-profits. In 2019, teen students created a 10x10 foot mural at the Blue Butterfly Cafe in downtown El Segundo, and the studio creates large-scale public murals and partners with local businesses and art galleries in Santa Monica, Hermosa Beach, Hawthorne, and Manhattan Beach to exhibit student artwork.
A quote shared by the studio states: “I am a little child. I paint fearlessly, I hammer loudly, I build recklessly, I write originally, I sing rapturously. May man never quell my creativity, just refine it.”
