Before and After School Programs offers art projects, games, computers, and outdoor physical play as part of its daily activities. The program also includes field trips for social and recreational activities when children are out of school for the summer. Teachers in the program can assist children with their daily homework and other assignments and collaborate with parents to provide extra help when needed.

The program is part of Hansel & Gretel Preschool & Day Care Center, which has been helping kids since 1974 and has over 45 years of experience. Programs at the center serve children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The center states that it is dedicated to helping children achieve great potential through its infant, toddler, preschool, prekindergarten, before-school, and after-school programs, with a goal to inspire children to become lifelong learners, discover their own uniqueness, and strengthen their social skills. The program has an open-door policy, so no appointments are necessary to visit.
CHP-certified buses and drivers are available as an optional service to transport children to and from elementary schools. The program provides all children with meals, snacks, as well as transportation to and from the school. It also assists low-income families that get state-subsidized care with partial or full payments toward child care while parents are attending schools, participating in training programs, or working. The director is Jean Teicheira.
One parent or guardian has said, “I would not imagine taking our son anywhere else. This school (which is how we see it) is one of the best parts of living in Manteca.”
