AYSO Region 109 Menlo Park / Atherton Youth Soccer Programs follows the mission of the American Youth Soccer Organization: “Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.” The region is led locally by Michael Karon, who serves as President of AYSO and has received the Stack Leadership Award from Stack Sports for his impact in the world of sports volunteering. AYSO is involved in partnerships that include work with Chicago Public Schools to enhance youth sports programming for fifth through eighth grade, a partnership with the US Center for Mental Health & Sport focused on player and volunteer wellness, a partnership with the Northland Sports Alliance to expand soccer programming in Kansas City, and support for U.S. Soccer to improve SafeSport. Unique AYSO activities and events include AYSO PLAY!, the PLAYSOCCER event in Atlanta, the 2023 National Games at the Great Park in Orange County, and a National Annual General Meeting where delegates from Regions, Areas, and Sections engage directly with the AYSO leadership team.
