About
Studio650 Company Program offers recreational dance classes and year-round competitive dance companies that include technique classes, style classes, and rehearsals for competition routines. Dancers train in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and ballet, with tap available as an optional style. Company teams participate each year in four competitions, three team-bonding events, two conventions, and a national dance competition.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Mini Company meets twice per week; Junior, Teen, and Senior Companies train 4–5 times per week, totaling 6–8 hours of weekly training
• Price: Mini Company: $350/month; Petite, Junior, Pre-teen, Teen & Senior Companies: $650/month; tuition covers all company rehearsals as well as unlimited access to open classes
Studio650 Company Program includes eight companies for ages 4–18, listed as Mini, Petite, Junior, Pre-teen, Teen 1/2, and Senior 1/2, with dancers in the company described as ages 5–18 and divided into Mini, Petite, Junior, Pre-teen, Teen, and Senior groups. Within each age group, multiple team levels are offered, and placement is determined during auditions based on technique, performance, and focus. At auditions, dancers audition in their age group, perform in groups, complete across-the-floor exercises, and learn combinations in a variety of styles so faculty can assess their strengths and place each dancer on the team that will best support their growth and development. Each season, dancers attend four regional competitions, typically held in the Bay Area, and a national competition each summer, with past national competition locations including Anaheim, Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Lake Tahoe. Dancers attend two conventions each season to learn from renowned choreographers and industry professionals, and they receive guidance from a nutritionist to encourage healthy eating habits and daily exercise. Mini Company, Junior, Teen, and Senior Companies may take any open classes on the schedule as part of their tuition. Studio650 describes itself as an award-winning dance team, with experienced instructors and state-of-the-art facilities, and states that dancers gain leadership skills, learn teamwork, and build lasting friendships. The studio was formerly known as Captivating Dance by Nona and is entering its 18th season. The program’s mission states a dedication to providing a supportive environment where students can explore their passion for dance and develop their skills to their fullest potential, with core values that include sportsmanship, compassion, positivity, and hard work. Auditions for the 2026–2027 season are in late May.
