About

California Pacific Marine Biology offers a variety of engaging activities for participants. They can explore tidepools, snorkel in kelp forests, and paddle through sea caves. The program also includes whale watching, learning to surf, hiking cliffs, and interacting with marine life. Participants engage in conservation and science education, visit a Marine Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Facility, and dive into shark research. Other activities include touring the Monterey Bay Aquarium, studying tide pools, learning about elephant seals, snorkeling at Channel Islands National Park, visiting the Marine Mammal Center, and touring the Shark Lab at CSU Long Beach.

Founded in 1983, the program is part of ARCC, which aims to cultivate the next generation of informed, empathetic, and action-oriented global citizens through experiential learning, intentional community partnerships, and responsible travel. Monterey Bay is known as the 'Serengeti of the Sea', and the Channel Islands are referred to as the 'Galápagos of the North'. Participants are advised to bring a backpack as their main piece of luggage, along with their own sleeping bag and pad.
