Mission Viejo Football Club states that its mission is to focus on player development both as a person and a player, to uphold family values, to be humble in victory, to promote respect for each other, and to follow a core belief of quality before quantity. The club describes itself with the phrase “One Club. One Family. One Mission.” and notes that every player is important and not just a number on a spreadsheet. It is a coach-run club with an administrative support team, and club officials are required to be regularly on the fields and available for questions, with no front office positions and the soccer field serving as the office.
All coaches are required to take advantage of the club’s coaching education program, and the club supports coaches with regular training, mentoring, and development. The club uses a player development curriculum with regular player evaluation and holds a belief that players from 8 to 13 must learn 80% of what they learn in their lifetime concerning basic skills. The club coordinates regularly with top Academy clubs in England and offers a pathway to the top playing circuits, including many teams in the SoCal Competitive Leagues from high-end NPL to beginner levels in Flight 3, as well as a Premier Program with teams in the Elite Academy and ECNL/ECRL for players fully committed to soccer.
Mission Viejo Football Club notes that it invests in its fields rather than club vehicles and that its facilities are intended to promote the club’s culture, including exclusive access to well maintained, lighted fields and an onsite club room at the La Paz facility for team meetings and game preparation, with the main practice field at La Paz Intermediate School. The club is a 501C3 club. Its community involvement includes the Mission Viejo Cup (MV Cup), a presence on the Chamber of Commerce, participation in City events, and a 5K walk.
