About

Modesto Judo Club offers classes in Judo and Submission Grappling (No-Gi), along with self-defense training. The program also includes a focus on sportsmanship, physical fitness, self-confidence, and weight management. Judo classes use traditional techniques, and students practice throws, balance, coordination, control, pins, and basic submissions, while the No-Gi Grappling program combines wrestling, judo, and jiu-jitsu with takedowns, ground control, escapes, and submissions, and does not require a uniform.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Kids’ and youth classes are offered Tuesday–Thursday in the late afternoon, with additional No-Gi, judo, and combined sessions for adults on weekdays and Saturday mornings.

The Modesto Judo Club was founded in 2007 by Don Hunnell. It is a Nationally Certified USA JUDO School. The program is dedicated to serving the youth and adults of this community by providing a safe and family friendly environment that contributes to the physical and overall development of each individual. Classes are open to both adults and children starting at five years of age, and the club offers a free trial class, a free week trial, and a free personal training session. For Submission Grappling (No-Gi), no uniform is required, and participants are asked to come ready to move and learn.
