The Dragonfly Art for Life offers art classes that include paint nights, paint pours, paint-and-sip experiences, sewing classes, and school enrichment programs. • Schedule: Open Monday–Friday during the day, with paint nights and paint pours available by appointment on Friday evenings.
• Price: The membership includes 1 canvas per month and use of the studio and supplies, and the $125 class fee includes 4 classes, supplies, and unlimited access to the studio for the month.
The Dragonfly Art for Life studio is described as a community-centered art studio with an open-air concept, and it functions as a working studio and creative hub. Its mission states that it focuses on creativity, education, and connection, supports artists, partners with community organizations, and uses art to inspire learning, build relationships, bring people together, and promote self-care and healing through the creative process. The studio works with VMRC and other agencies to support students with special needs. Barbara opened The Dragonfly Art for Life in November 2018 and has degrees in Art, Child Development, and a Master's in Education. Patrick Barr is the Lead Master Artist, with a background that includes studies at the Academy of Art University and experience with Walt Disney Animation Studios. Lalaine Violante is an employee and teacher at the studio and offers interpretation in Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL). The studio has a resident studio cat named Batman. The Dragonfly Art for Life recently won the Modesto Bee's Best in Modesto 2025. Membership and class fees include use of studio supplies, and sewing classes include access to sewing machines and a wide selection of fabrics on hand, with students able to purchase their own special fabrics, patterns, and notions for special projects.
