About
YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles Youth Programs include options such as the Youth & Government program, where teens learn how government works by debating policies, drafting bills, and collaborating with peers from across the state. The programs also offer camps ranging from day camps to overnight adventures at multiple camp sites, including Camp Marcil, Camp Whittle, and YMCA Camp High Sierra. Youth programs take place at a facility that features a Child Activity Center, a gym, and a pool.
The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles connects its youth programs to the Center for Community Well-Being, which focuses on social determinants of health such as access to food, safe spaces, learning, and human connection. Across the association, 47,000+ youth participate in recreation, sports, and afterschool programs, and 2,000+ California YMCA youth take part in learning about citizenship and diplomacy. The broader YMCA community involvement also includes 9,000+ children and adults taught swim safety lessons, $3 million+ in financial assistance to make Y centers accessible, and engagement of 50,000+ members and 30,000 volunteers in work related to building a safer, healthier Los Angeles.
