Academia de Fútbol Monterey offers Team Edge for youth soccer players and Player’s Edge for individual soccer players. Player’s Edge includes technical skills, athletic development, mental strength, and goalkeeper training. The program also offers Player’s Edge Camp, a one-week training experience with on-field practice, expert instruction, drills, small-sided games, and scrimmages. Current programs also include Foundations, with small group sessions, and Performance, which focuses on athletic development.
Programs
- Team Edge — Youth soccer players · Designed for players to grow in a team environment; enrollment is limited to teams and made available by invitation; a minimum enrollment size is required for Team Edge teams.
- Player’s Edge — Individual soccer players · Training-specific modules covering technical skills, athletic development, mental strength, and goalkeeper training.
- Player’s Edge Camp — Young soccer players · A one-week immersive training experience combining on-field practice with expert instruction, drills, small-sided games, and scrimmages.
- Foundations — Players · Monday and Wednesday · Small group sessions with a 1:12 coach-to-player ratio; session groups are based on age and ability.
- Performance — Players enrolled in or preparing to enroll in high school programs · Monday and Wednesday · Focuses on athletic development and provides material and exercises to work on outside of session time.

About the provider
The academy’s idea took shape over the spring and summer of 2022. Its leadership team includes Mark Cisneros, Director of Coaching; Scott Schoenthal, Executive Director; and Jose Tostado, Player Development Specialist. The coaching staff has experience in college, high school, and youth club environments. The academy states that it prioritizes player-centered growth through soccer and education across technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social dimensions.
The Academy treats each player as an individual with their own needs and objectives. Team Edge enrollment is limited to teams and available by invitation, with a minimum enrollment size required. Foundations sessions use small groups limited to a 1:12 coach-to-player ratio. Session groups are based on age and ability.
