About
Monterey State Historic Park's Summer Day Camp: Los Exploradores de Monterey includes period games and play, toys, crafts, food, songs, and dances. Day campers take part in nature observation and interactive guided tours. Campers explore the rich cultural history and natural areas throughout Monterey State Historic Park and beyond, and experience Monterey’s historical buildings and colorful gardens.
• Ages: 8–11 years old
Led by California State Park Staff, this program is a Summer Adventure Camp for students entering grades 3–5. It is sponsored by Monterey State Historic Park Association, which has been the official philanthropic partner and cooperating association for Monterey State Historic Park since 1975. Monterey State Historic Park Association’s mission is to support interpretation, educational programs, and special events at Monterey State Historic Park in downtown Monterey, and it sponsors school educational programs, the Los Exploradores history summer camp, and Christmas in the Adobes along with other annual events located within the state historic park. The association is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) association, and its leadership includes Mimi Sheridan (President), Jason Reed (Treasurer), Brian Edwards (Secretary), and Lee Henderson, Maria Schoettler, Tom Nabozny, Melanie Stackpole, and Marilynn Whitcomb as Members at large.
