Montessori School of Mountain House

Montessori School of Mountain House offers children hands-on activities with models, puzzles, books and projects, and arts and crafts. The program follows a Montessori educational approach based on the principles of Maria Montessori, with a child-centered, self-directed learning approach in a prepared environment with specially designed materials and activities. Classrooms use mixed-age grouping intended to resemble a family or community environment, with multi-age or mixed-age classrooms in both the Two Year Old and Preschool/Kindergarten programs.

Montessori School of Mountain House offers programs for children from the age of two through kindergarten, including a Two Year Old program for ages 2–3 and a Preschool/Kindergarten program for ages 3–6. The school also offers a Summer School program for ages 2–6 with alternating themes: Solar System in 2025, Invertebrate Animals in 2026, and Human Anatomy in 2027. Every classroom consists of a head teacher and two qualified assistants for a group as large as 36 students, and the teacher-to-child ratio follows the state requirement of one teacher visually observing and supervising at most 12 children in attendance.

All teachers have state-required units in Early Childhood Education, CPR and First Aid Training, Mandated Reporter Training, and have completed a criminal background check. Most staff members hold higher education degrees and Montessori credentials through Montessori accredited training programs or are currently in training, and lead teachers are AMS credentialed with all teachers actively working towards their Montessori credential. All employees, including teachers, assistants, administrators, and supporting staff, receive a full background check through the FBI and Department of Justice. The school has an emergency disaster plan, touchless attendance system, and motion-detecting hand sanitizers, along with daily sanitizing and janitorial services.

The Montessori School of Mountain House is affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and is licensed by the State of California through Community Care Licensing. It is a non-sectarian school not affiliated with any church or religion and maintains affiliation with Montessori CA Elementary & Middle School and Montessori Teacher Training through helpful links. All parents are members of the Parent Association, and each family is responsible for ten hours of work commitment per year per child. The school has proudly served Mountain House and surrounding communities since 2013.
