About
GUILD Kids Camps and Classes offers hands-on activities that include weaving, watercolor, block printing, shibori dyeing, crafting, and making. These activities take place in the GUILD studio and workshop.
GUILD began as a series of conversations between two friends, Monica Stickley and Carrie Saxl. Carrie received a degree in fashion design and has spent the last 19 years of her work life designing and making things for her eponymous jewelry line. Monica studied culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of America and has worked as a food stylist and wedding cake maker, and she has extensive experience in planning weddings and events. GUILD describes itself as a place for everyone, from the creatively curious novice to the seasoned artist looking to brush up on old skills or learn something entirely new. The program describes itself as a coming together of people with similar interests, building community, learning together and having a good time. It offers a spectrum of classes accessible to all ages and abilities, and it also serves as a place for girls night out that involves more than just dinner and drinks. The space is used as a place to take children on a rainy winter day where adults can sip coffee and chat while children enjoy crafting and making nearby, and it can be used for baby showers or birthday parties that include activities described as fun and affordable. It also provides a space to gather with creative and entrepreneurial friends to talk shop, make things, and share knowledge. Photos and video may be taken and used in social media and on the website during events and workshops.
