Food Love Farm Summer Camp & After School Program

Food Love Farm Summer Camp & After School Program includes daily farm chores, harvesting seasonal produce, nature-inspired crafts, games, and specific hands-on skills like grinding corn with a molcajete. The program is known as “the tastiest camp in town” and offers an immersive educational experience that connects children with the Earth and the food they eat. It is focused on exploration and nature-play, provides a “seed-to-table” experience, and encourages kids to try new fresh vegetables and learn about the local food system and environmental stewardship.

• Schedule: Camp operates Monday–Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with 4 sessions per summer

Sierra Harvest, which hosts Food Love Farm Summer Camp & After School Program, launched officially in 2013 and states its mission as “Real food. Grown locally. Shared equally.” The organization lists a leadership and board team that includes roles such as Executive Director, Education Programs Director, Farm & Education Manager, Farmer Resources Director, Community Engagement Manager, and Board Co-Presidents. Sierra Harvest partners with regional agencies and organizations, including Interfaith Food Ministry, Gold Country Senior Services, Food Bank of Nevada County, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, restaurants, and others, to support local food production and distribution, and participates in collaborations such as the Forever Farms partnership and the Sierra Nevada Farmer Cooperative.
