Newport Beach Water Polo offers specific training groups including Intro to Water Polo, 10U CoEd, 12U Boys, 12U Girls, 14U Boys, 14U Girls, HS16U/HS18U Boys and Girls, and Splash Ball. Athletes new to water polo are directed to start at the Introduction to Water Polo level. Rosters and tournament schedules are posted on the program’s website calendar and team pages, and families are instructed to register athletes for tournaments once they see that they are rostered.

During the 2026 summer season, Intro to Water Polo meets Monday 5:00–6:00 p.m. and Wednesday 5:00–6:00 p.m. The 10U CoEd group practices Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00–7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. The 12U Boys group practices Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00–7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 8:00–10:00 a.m. The 12U Girls group practices Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00–7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. The 14U Boys group practices Monday 6:30–8:30 p.m., Tuesday 5:30–7:30 p.m., Thursday 6:00–8:00 p.m., and Friday 6:30–8:30 p.m. The 14U Girls group practices Monday 6:00–8:00 p.m., Wednesday 6:00–8:00 p.m., Thursday 7:00–9:00 p.m., and Friday 6:00–8:00 p.m. The summer schedule is subject to change due to NHHS Aquatics Programs.
For the 2026 Junior Olympics, Session I (Girls/Mixed) runs July 18–21 and Session II (Boys) runs July 23–26. Age groups are based on how old a player is on August 1 of the current Junior Olympic year, so the age a player is on 8/1/26 determines the age group for 2026.
Newport Beach Water Polo requires a current USA Water Polo membership: Gold Membership under Newport Beach Water Polo, Inc. Club #20606, with completed age verification and a recognizable photo uploaded to the member ID card; a Splash Ball Membership is acceptable for Splash Ball. Families are instructed to first register the athlete with USA Water Polo at www.usawaterpolo.org, then register with NBWP Intro to Water Polo. If, after three practice sessions, a family decides Intro to Water Polo is not a fit, NBWP will refund the registration fee in full for Intro to Water Polo. Families are informed that they will be billed if they do not notify NBWP that their athlete is not available for a tournament.
Newport Beach Water Polo states that it is not affiliated with any high school or high school water polo program, and that no high school athlete is required to participate in Newport Beach Water Polo in order to participate with a high school team. The program notes that US Center for Safe Sport Training free courses are offered to parents/guardians of all USA Water Polo minor athletes and to the minor athletes as well.
The program describes itself as a premier destination for water polo enthusiasts of all ages, with expert coaching and a welcoming atmosphere, and highlights a focus on families bonding through the excitement of the sport. It invites participants to discover water polo at Newport Beach Water Polo and refers to “the world of water polo excellence at NBWP.”
Newport Beach Water Polo lists leadership and athlete achievements including Cami Chomchavalit, CeCe Mesenbrink, Hope Doyle, and McKenna Mack representing Team USA and earning a Gold Medal at the Pan Am Games. It also notes 15U NBWP Boys and Girls representing USA at the Pan Am Games, with the Girls earning a Gold Medal and the Boys earning a Silver Medal. Additional club results include 18U Boys Platinum back-to-back championships and a 14U Platinum Silver Medal.
