About
Acta Non Verba Youth Programs offers hands-on activities in arts, science, literacy, creative projects, cooking, nutrition, fitness, movement, urban farming, and environmental stewardship. Youth take part in farming, exploring art and science, dancing, archery, swimming, yoga, farm-to-table cooking, wellness, outdoor exploration, and leadership activities. Campers spend most of their time outdoors, and Camp ANV includes weekly field trips to regional parks and museums.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Six-week summer session; Camp ANV 2026 runs June 8, 2026 to July 10, 2026, with Wednesdays as swim days and Thursdays as field trips to East Bay Regional Parks
• Price: Summer: $750/week per camper
Since 2012, Camp ANV has been a cornerstone of learning, growth, and joy for Oakland youth. Seasonal camps are offered during Spring Break, Summer, Fall, and Winter, and each summer Camp ANV welcomes more than 200 youth ages 5–11 for six weeks of nature-based learning and joy. The program’s mission, through Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project, is to elevate access to the natural environment. The program’s youth programs empower youth ages 5–18 through hands-on learning in farming, cooking, art, archery, leadership, outdoor exploration, and related activities. Camp ANV has caring, trained staff, including a mental health professional and a Registered Nurse. Founded and led mainly by women and People of Color, ANV engages youth and families in safe and creative outdoor spaces in Oakland and the East Bay, CA, and offers a Campership Program with financial assistance awarded on a case-by-case basis that requires a minimum financial contribution and a volunteering commitment. Through the Time to Thrive Initiative, every hour volunteered equals $21 toward CSA, Camp ANV, or Backyard Garden services, and sliding-scale veggie shares, including EBT and Market Match, are available for families across Oakland and beyond.
