Children’s Fairyland Summer Day Camp and Youth Programs takes place in a magical mid-century park that includes famous storybook sets crafted by architect William Russell Everitt and gardens designed by businessman Arthur Navlet, with some original plantings still thriving. The park’s Children’s Theatre program includes “Fairyland Personalities,” created in 1956 by Burton Weber and still part of the offerings. The organization has a 75-year history, opened in 1950, and became a nonprofit in 1994, with financial support allowing 4,000 low-income children to attend for free each year. Community involvement includes teaming up with The Town’s top chefs for Oakland’s Magic Kitchen and partnering with Jumpstart510 for Double Dutch jumprope lessons during the Juneteenth Celebration. Leadership for the program includes CEO Kymberly Miller and Senior Directors Vicky Chen (Education), Nick Mitchell (Facilities), Morgan Rothenbaum (Marketing & Communications), Samuel Aguayo (Operations), Leslie Fay Marks (Philanthropy), and Jessica Martin (Events).
