Destiny Arts Center offers movement arts programs that are rooted in its creative youth development framework and the “Warriors Code” of Love, Care, Respect, Honor, Responsibility, and Peace. The program is led by trained, expert, and diverse teaching artists. Destiny Arts Center provides a brave space for youth to express themselves, advocate for social change, and build thriving communities.

Founded by Black and Queer dance and martial artists in 1988, Destiny Arts Center has been an anchor cultural institution working in Oakland for over 30 years. Its mission is to inspire and ignite social change through the arts. The organization believes that art and movement give young people a vehicle for self and community expression and is committed to centering the voices and experiences of BIPOC youth. Destiny Arts Center focuses on supporting the whole child through fostering healthy environments and relationship-building as pathways to social and emotional wellness, and its commitment to social change has been embedded in its core values and methodologies for over 30 years. A caregiver described Destiny Arts Center by saying, “Destiny Arts is the heartbeat of the community.”
