GirlVentures offers Project Courage, a 10-day, 9-night expedition on Tomales Bay for girls and gender non-conforming youth entering 7th and 8th grade. All gear, food, and transportation are provided, and no prior experience is necessary. The sliding scale fee is $450 to $3,300.

About the provider

GirlVentures says its programs start at age 11 and are led by experiential educators and mentors. Its mission says the programs explore identity, social justice, leadership, health, and the environment, while nurturing girls’ self-esteem and resilience as they develop into empathetic, confident conservationists and allies. The organization practices radical inclusion and serves gender expansive youth, cis girls, trans youth, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth, and any girl-identified youth.

GirlVentures offers sliding scale tuition and does not require proof of income. Families self-select household income range, preferred tuition amount, and preferred payment plan. Tuition can be paid in one payment or in 3 monthly installments. Late payments incur a 5% fee, compounded monthly if still unpaid. If payment is not received prior to course start, participation may be denied. Cancellations made less than 30 days before the start are not refunded. Refunds are not provided for early departures.
