About

Oakley Freedom Preschool and Childcare Programs includes activities such as dramatic play, arts and crafts, music, and reading. The program takes place in a kid-friendly and age-appropriate space at the Oakley Freedom Preschool center.

• Ages: 2–7 years old
• Schedule: General childcare and preschool options Monday–Friday, with part-day preschool from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and full-day care from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

The leadership team includes Head Teachers Jacqueline Rolandelli and Ravinder Sahota, Classroom Aides Karen Sanchez and Alyssa-Marie Totah, and Site Supervisor/Head Teacher Jessica Lino. Jessica Lino has an AA degree in Child Development and holds a Site Supervisor permit. The center is accredited by the State of California under License No. 073401260 and is described as a licensed facility with qualified teachers and staff. The program typically has one adult for every eight children in preschool classes, one adult for every four children in general childcare classes, and one adult for every 14 children in the school-age program, and in total cares for more than 300 children.

The program includes themes and special days such as PJ Day, Handfuls Feast, “Gingerbread Man,” Diversity, learning about Martin Luther King Jr., Presidents, the USA, and friendship. The program notes that classes do not co-mingle as much as before due to Covid-19 but have come together for a few special days. The childcare programs are government subsidized, with the exception of the Hidden Valley Elementary private after-school program located in Martinez for Kindergarten and first grade. The program provides meals and snacks to all children in its childcare programs and maintains solid channels of communication between teachers and parents while encouraging each child's unique learning needs. The YWCA Contra Costa / Sacramento states that it is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all, and describes a commitment to uplifting and supporting women and families of all walks of life while promoting diversity and inclusion in everything it does.
