Ojai Youth Entertainers Studio (OYES) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to challenging, inspiring, educating, and entertaining children and families in the Ojai Valley through the experience of quality theatre, dance, and music. After-school programs blend drama games, skill-building, and ensemble work with the focused rehearsal process of a fully staged production, and productions are immersive, fully realized theatrical experiences that are described as designed to challenge young performers. The organization offers multi-cast productions serving over 100 children at a time, Shakespeare ensembles, technical theater apprenticeships, and performance programs for grades K–12. Rehearsals are held once a week plus occasional Saturdays to balance busy family schedules, and the organization describes itself as a creative home where young people rise, risk, collaborate, and belong. Youth ensembles use Lions, Tigers, and Bears as cast names, and the phrase “Hear Us Roar” is used as a rallying cry representing the confidence students build on stage.

Founded in 2000 as Theatre 150, the organization has been creating meaningful performance experiences in the Ojai Valley for 25 years. Fifteen years ago, the organization made a commitment to focus entirely on youth, and it creates meaningful performance experiences in the Ojai Valley for performers across generations while serving children and families in the Ojai Valley through theatre, dance, and music.
