Oak Springs Pool was originally spring-fed and was built in 1929, and in 1945 residents in the area built a clubhouse on the property. The pool is described as a hidden oasis nestled in the hills of Orinda and is an historic pool situated among towering oaks, originally built on the site of a man-made swimming hole circa 1900. Remnants of the original rock-laid fountain still exist on the ivy-covered hillside adjacent to the pool. The mid-century clubhouse includes a full kitchen, a large recreation room with a fireplace, and a balcony overlooking the hills and the property’s pool and gardens. The mission of the neighborhood pool is to preserve its historical significance to the community.
Oak Springs Home Association offers summer swim memberships to individuals, couples, and families. Residents in the area formed a homeowners’ association to help manage and maintain the facilities and oversee membership, and a volunteer-run board of directors continues to manage this not-for-profit facility. Members may rent the clubhouse facility, and rentals are subject to weekday availability during the summer pool season.
