Junior Chef Stars states that its approach is to “Create, Cook, Learn,” encouraging students to explore new worlds of flavor by “painting their plates with imaginative and original recipes,” providing building blocks to promote “a healthy, independent, and delicious lifestyle,” and introducing students to “nutritional and cultural elements of the culinary arts” with “fun and intuitive lessons.” Multiple staff members hold ServSafe certification, and several, including Hannah, Brian Casimiro, Sophia Co., Nicole, and Krystal, also hold CPR and First Aid certification. Nicole is described as a lead instructor and assistant program coordinator, and Krystal serves as a chef instructor and program coordinator. Nicole has been with Junior Chef Stars since 2019, Krystal has been with the program for two years, Sophia Ca. has been with Junior Chef Stars since 2018, and Sophia Co. joined in the summer of 2024.
Parents describe Junior Chef Stars as “a wonderful little school – easy-going and knowledgeable instructors, inviting little kitchen, very clean and friendly.” One parent from San Mateo shared that an 11-year-old “learned a lot of cooking skills, made a ton of great food and played games,” received a printed booklet with recipes, and that the program made “a wonderful YouTube video of the class.” A parent from Redwood City reported that a 9th birthday party was “fantastic,” with location, decorations, and details “handled from start to finish (set up and clean up too!).” Another parent from Burlingame called it the “best summer camp” their 8-year-old daughter ever had and noted that she was “always so happy at the end of day talking about what they learned.” A parent from Burlingame also said this was the only camp their child had asked to repeat the next year. A parent from Redwood City said their 7-year-old son “had a blast,” made “so much food” that his dad enjoyed it for dinner, and that the food was made “from scratch.”
