About
EarthCapades Environmental Education Assembly Programs features circus acts, magic tricks, music, juggling, comedy, storytelling, Earth science, unicycling, and circus arts coaching. The programs also include Community Song Circles, storytelling by Hearty, and use technology as part of their environmental edutainment format. A family-based performing team, including the co-directors and their child performer, appears in the Environmental Vaudeville programs.

EarthCapades has been providing Environmental Education Assembly Programs since 1997, and EarthCapades Environmental Vaudeville was created in 1997, with copyright dates listed from 1997–2026. Lissin & Hearty have been performing Environmental Education Assembly Programs in schools, libraries, theaters, and festivals since 1997, and EarthCapades provides programs in schools, libraries, theaters, festivals, and family theatres. The mission of EarthCapades is to provide inspirational and engaging environmental edutainment programs in schools, festivals and theaters to cultivate a healthy, thriving ecosystem for all, and to inspire audiences to experience a joyful connection with the Earth through theatrics, circus, music, and technology.
The leadership team includes Lissin Lev Chaya, EarthCapades Co-Director and performer, and Hearty (also known as D. Heartlife), EarthCapades executive director, co-founder and performer; Lissin and Hearty are co-directors of EarthCapades Environmental Education Assembly Programs. Lissin Lev Chaya has studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Interlochen Arts Camp, and The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Hearty received a BA in Environmental Education, studied comedy with Dan Holzman of the Raspyni Brothers, and studied circus with Mr. Lu Yi, a highly respected Chinese Master Acrobat. In addition to EarthCapades, Lissin serves as Sheli’ach Tzibbur, or Service Leader, for the Coastside Jewish Community and officiates weddings and other rites of passage as a Life-Cycle Celebrant.
Teachers describe the assemblies as “engaging the ENTIRE time” with “great” content where “kids are learning important information in a fun way,” and as “Interactive, Visual, Informative, Bilingual, and Amazing!!!” One teacher calls the programs “dynamic, engaging, and informative” and notes that “the presenters are awesome” and “clearly passionate about what they are doing and enjoy working with children.” Another teacher with 33 years of experience states, “this is the BEST assembly I have ever seen! EarthCapades has a great message, is engaging, and is perfect for kids.”
