About

Pacifica AYSO Region 157 offers youth soccer through a Fall soccer league, a smaller Spring soccer program with a handful of teams, and UK camps. The program uses age-appropriate small-sided games for younger children and scales team sizes by age group, with younger players having fewer players on the field. Coaches and referees are volunteers, most often parents of players, and each child who registers is guaranteed to play at least half of every game under AYSO’s “Everyone Plays” philosophy.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Player registration is held each spring and ends by July, with league play beginning the weekend after Labor Day in September and lasting for 8–10 weeks.

Pacifica AYSO Region 157 is an all volunteer recreational soccer league serving the local community since 1978 and is part of the American Youth Soccer Organization, which was established in the Los Angeles area in 1964. The region follows the AYSO mission of providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives and is governed by the National AYSO Standard Policies and Protocols, with the region able to adopt changes and additions.

The leadership team includes roles such as Regional Commissioner, Regional Referee Administrator, Child & Volunteer Protection Advocate, Coach Administrator, Safety Director, division coordinators for multiple age groups, schedulers, a Youth Referee Mentor, an Equipment Manager, a Director of Fields, a Region Representative, an Auditor, a Sponsor Coordinator, an Event Coordinator, and a Webmaster. Named volunteers in these roles include Jamie Warden, Rich Ryall, Lori Rittweger, Brandy Petrasunas, Jim Allen, Danielle Kehr, Hector Rodriguez, Roselle Loudon, Tina Petersen, Abigail Eastham-Anderson, Sam Leon, Janell Jones, Maria Villegas-Hoppe, and Amber Friedler.

Pacifica AYSO Region 157 describes itself as an all volunteer recreational soccer league where almost every board member works full-time and many have children in or formerly in the program, with some volunteers continuing even after their children have aged out. Testimonials from volunteers describe long-term involvement in AYSO since youth playing days, continuing to coach, referee, and serve on the board, as well as parents who joined to participate with their children and to give back to the town and local community organizations such as their kids’ school and the Pacifica Historical Society.
