Pacifica Playschool offers a mix of indoor and outdoor activities that include music, drama, arts, literature, science, nature, dramatic play, and table games. Children take part in playing card games, duck-duck goose, dancing, singing, building, baking, stories, art, arts and crafts, and music and movement as part of the daily routine.

Pacifica Playschool was founded in 1959 and has been providing a playful education for children ages 2–5 years old in Pacifica for more than 55 years. It is a family owned and operated preschool that offers full-day, half-day, and kindergarten readiness programs, with options for full day care or morning and afternoon preschool sessions. Children may attend as few as three half-day or three full-day sessions a week. The program serves a hot home cooked lunch daily and provides nutritious morning and afternoon snacks, with a classroom ratio of teachers to children of 1:8.
The mission of Pacifica Playschool is to provide educational care to children from ages 2–5 in a happy place for young children, with the understanding that each child is unique and deserves to be nurtured and given a playful learning environment, where they will develop a positive self-image, independence, desire to explore, discover and have fun. Its stated values and philosophy are to provide a safe and nurturing environment for a child to develop a positive self-image, independence, to question and appreciate their learning experience. The curriculum is described as developing emotional, social, physical and intellectual skills necessary for future education, and the staff is described as caring and qualified.
The leadership team includes Suzanne Wheeler Johnson, Owner/Director; Christine (Tina), Lead Teacher of the prekindergarten class; Alyssa, teacher in the preschool (two and three year olds) classroom; Cecilia “Cici,” lead teacher for the Preschool classroom; and Sofie, a teacher working with kids. Staff have completed early childhood courses and have received training in CPR and First Aid. Suzanne earned her Early Childhood Education and Administration Certificates from Canada College in 1988. Alyssa earned her Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education Certification/Teaching Permit from Skyline College in 2009. Cecilia received her BA from Sonoma State University in 2017 and has been working towards her Child Development Directors Permit at City College of San Francisco. Sofie has accumulated units in Early Childhood Education and is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in American Indian Studies at San Francisco State University.
Pacifica Playschool participates in the Professional Association for Childhood Education, Child Care Coordinating Council of San Mateo County, National Association for the Education of the Young Child, San Mateo Association for the Education of the Young Child, and Pacifica Chamber of Commerce, and Suzanne is an active member of the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce and Moose Lodge. Pacifica Playschool has won Best Preschool for three years running and is described as a reliable and quality school in Pacifica, CA. The program is currently enrolling for summer and fall.
