The Academy of Nickerson-Rossi Dance – Pre-Professional Program offers training in Ballet, Pointe and Variations, Hip-Hop, Conditioning, Contemporary, Jazz, Horton (Modern), Modern, Student Choreography, and Performance/Rehearsal. Dancers train directly with a professional dance company through selective placements in Levels 2–4 and in Training or Performance Tracks. Enrollment is by application, and the program includes individual mentorship and career guidance.
• Schedule: Classes are offered Monday through Thursday with additional Performance/Rehearsal on Saturdays, with specific options in the late afternoon and evening.
• Price: TRAINING TRACK: Up to 11 hrs/week; 1 annual performance; Technique focus; Lower commitment; Best for growing dancers; $448 a month. PERFORMANCE TRACK: Up to 13.5 hrs/week; Multiple performances; Technique + Industry Exposure; Higher commitment; Best for serious career-bound dancers; $600 a month.
The program is led under the artistic direction of Founder/Artistic Director Michael Nickerson-Rossi. Nickerson-Rossi Dance has presented performances nationally since 2012–13, became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2016–17, and launched Palm Springs Dance Academy in 2020 as its official training school. The organization has partnered with the Riverside County Office of Education and continues collaborations with Sunnylands and the Palm Springs Art Museum. Nickerson-Rossi’s Dance House is noted as the only dedicated dance venue in Coachella Valley, and the company has been named a Top Pick at the LA Dance Festival by PerformingArtsLive. Nickerson-Rossi Dance has awarded over $750,000 in scholarships for college, summer training, and Academy programming and has launched its 13th season, awarding 88 scholarships and presenting work with the California Association of Museums, American College Dance Association, and University High School.
