The Children’s Pre-School Center is a not-for-profit child care center with a parent-run board of directors and optional volunteer opportunities for families. The program follows a Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy and is based on the most current knowledge of early childhood development, with play at the core. It offers a carefully designed child development program from infancy to pre-Kindergarten and describes its environment as rich in national and international cultures, where parents and teachers work together to cherish and celebrate the children. The center states that teachers get to know each child individually, learning each child’s temperament and personality, and that it believes in the importance of an enduring relationship between parents, children, and educators. The Children’s Pre-School Center notes that it is undergoing NAEYC accreditation and follows strict COVID19 protocols. The organization describes itself as having 30 years serving the community and supporting working families by partnering with parents to provide top quality child care. The Executive Director is Mayra Howard.
Families have shared testimonials describing educators as dedicated and compassionate, and mentioning communication and learning among educators as they meet to share ideas for lessons and different teaching approaches. One family with two children over a decade described excellent care, an atmosphere that gave them peace of mind, and strong focus on love and care, manners, healthy eating habits, and a learning atmosphere. Another family reported that their child flourished socially and intellectually in the junior preschool program and highlighted support with potty training, early literacy and communication, and self-help skills. A parent whose child attended from infancy through multiple classrooms emphasized the genuine love teachers showed for children and that the child enjoyed coming to school and was challenged and stimulated to grow and learn in a supportive and caring environment that valued her as an individual. Other parents described the center as the best choice for their family after trying several options, mentioning strong relationships with teachers, students, parents, and staff, and a sense of warmth, security, mutual trust, and respect. A family with three children noted that their eldest started at three months old and is now a senior preschooler, their second is in junior preschool, and their new baby will join the same infant room with the same head teacher, and they described the director as very experienced, the staff as always friendly, and the teachers as deeply caring toward children and extremely supportive of parents.
