Green & Bisque Clayhouse Classes & Courses

Green & Bisque Clayhouse Classes & Courses offers kids hand building with pinch, coil, and slab work in the Kids Hand Building class, and wheel throwing with centering, pulling, and trimming in the Kids Wheel Throwing class. It also offers six-week courses, drop-in hand-building sessions called Makers Monday, drop-in wheel sessions called Wheel Weekday, and private lessons on the wheel or at the hand-building table.

• Six-Week Courses — All levels · One class a week for six weeks; 2 hours per class · $385 per session · Includes 40+ hours of open studio and a complimentary 25 lb bag of clay. Returning students save $25.
• Makers Monday — No experience necessary · 2 hours · $80 per class · Drop-in hand-building session.
• Wheel Weekday — No experience necessary · 2 hours · $80 per class · Drop-in wheel session.
• Weekend Warrior — No experience necessary · 2.5 hours · $80 per class · Coming soon. Wheel + hand-building session. Registration opens soon.
• Kids Hand Building — Ages 5-8 · Sundays 10:00-11:30 am; four weeks · $250 per session · Pinch, coil, and slab building. Class size capped at 8. Clay, tools, glazing, and firing are included.
• Kids Wheel Throwing — Ages 9-13 · Sundays 12:30-2:00 pm; four weeks · Centering, pulling, and trimming on the wheel. Classes fill quickly at eight kids apiece.
• Private Lessons — Customizable to fit all ages · $90 · One-on-one instruction on the wheel or at the hand-building table.
• Lesson Packages — $400 · Five one-hour lessons with an instructor matched to your level, plus full-day studio access with each one.
• Private Events — $80 · A two-hour private session for four to twelve.
• Raku — Fire, smoke, and the alchemy of glaze.
• Visiting Workshops — World-renowned artists, several times a year.

About the provider

Founded in 2003 and reimagined in 2020 as Green & Bisque Clayhouse, the studio says it has shaped Pasadena's ceramic arts for over twenty years. Its mission statement describes it as a home for makers in Pasadena where serious artists and curious beginners are equally welcome, and where creativity, craftsmanship, learning, and human connection can thrive. The leadership team includes Bridgette Mathews, Janisse Gracia, Ben Norkin, Erin Eleniak, Nancy Koon, Maya Ruiz, Camilla Giraldo, and Eugene Davis.

Kids classes are capped at eight kids. Sunday kids sessions are four weeks. Six-week courses include 40+ hours of open studio and a 25 lb bag of clay. Returning students save $25. The studio is closed November 27-29 for Holiday Market set-up and the main event.
