The Junior Docent and Pathway Docent Youth Programs at The Gamble House involve students conducting tours for 3rd grade classes and presenting the house’s history and architecture by exploring form and function. Participants present architectural themes of space and design, as well as local history as it relates to the house. Pathway Docents lead monthly 45-minute Family Tours meant to introduce the Gamble House to children and their caregivers and offer support for free or low cost community touring events such as the annual family day, Crafting Memories and Museums of the Arroyo Day.

Under the guidance of Gamble House docents and staff, the Junior Docent Program trains more than 30 7th and 8th grade students in the Pasadena Unified School District. As part of the Junior Docent Program, 3rd graders have the opportunity to introduce their families to the Gamble House with a free return pass obtained through their elementary school. The Pathway Docent Program is a recent extension of the Junior Docent Program that invites students who have participated as Junior Docents to continue touring at the Gamble House, and Pathway Docents (8th grade and up) support free or low cost community touring events such as the annual family day, Crafting Memories and Museums of the Arroyo Day. The Junior Docent Program is part of the Pasadena Education Foundation’s “My Masterpieces,” which brings over 1,000 students from local elementary schools each year to tour the Gamble House.
The mission of The Gamble House Conservancy is to inspire the public’s appreciation and understanding of architecture as a fine art through the example of The Gamble House, the most complete and best-preserved work of American Arts and Crafts architects Charles and Henry Greene. The Gamble House is a Local, State, and National Historic Landmark. The leadership team includes Alexandra Rasic, James N.
