About
NHSP Summer Camp includes themed activities such as STEMtastic, Arabic Excursions, Motion Commotion, Inside the Garden and Outside Art, and Rainforest Expedition: Discover Critters of the Canopy. Campers take part in daily prayer and Qur’an sessions, Water Wednesdays with water games, Water Slide days, Global Goals: Soccer Around the World, Friday Jamboree, and Field Trip Fridays. The program also includes a field trip to Rose Bowl / Brookside Park and a field trip to the Pacific Asia Museum, with an option to stay later in the Extended Fun Camp.
• Ages: 4–11 years old
• Schedule: Weekly sessions from June 22–26, June 29–July 2, July 6–10, July 13–17, and July 20–24, with early arrival, regular camp hours, and an extended day option
• Price: Weekly camp rates from $265–$350 per week, Extended Fun Camp $80 per week or $20 per day, with a $100 non-refundable deposit and a 10% Early Bird Registration Discount for registrations by April 15
NHSP Summer Camp runs early arrival from 8:15–8:45 AM, regular camp from 8:45 AM–3:15 PM, and Extended Fun Camp from 3:15–6:00 PM. Lunch and snack time are based on bringing lunch and snacks from home, and the camp is peanut free. Water Wednesdays invite campers to bring water blasters for water games.
The program uses the New Horizon School Peace Garden, which was established in 2016 and is described as enriching student learning, inspiring nature appreciation and environmental stewardship, and serving as a place to sow seeds of peace and understanding through community building. All themes are tied to the Qur’an, and this connection is highlighted in the daily prayer and Qur’an sessions. Projects are designed for each age group using themes including STEMtastic, Arabic Excursions, Motion Commotion, and Inside the Garden and Outside Art.
Field Trip Fridays include trips to Griffith Park, LA Central Library, and LA Arboretum on weeks 1, 3, and 5, and Water Slide days take place on weeks 2 and 4. The camp is open to all students, whether or not they attend New Horizon School Pasadena. Junior Counselor volunteer positions are available for students entering grades 7–12, and Camp Counselor paid positions are available for ages 18 and up.
New Horizon School is committed to providing students with an excellent academic education and firm grounding in moral and ethical values. New Horizon School is a National Blue Ribbon School and is fully accredited by CAIS and WASC. The Peace Garden vision includes enriching student learning, inspiring nature appreciation and environmental stewardship, and serving as a place for peace and understanding through community building.
The NHSP Summer Camp leadership team includes Amira Al-Sarraf, Head of School and Summer Camp Director, along with Suad Naser in the Lower School Office for summer camp contact, Maria Khan in the Admissions Office and Communications & Marketing, Maryam Saleemi in the Advancement Office, and Hettie Challyandra in the Middle School Office.
