About
Kidspace Children’s Museum Programs include activities such as camping out, exploring nature, water play, road trips, live music, dance, and artmaking. Children can climb into a giant hawk’s nest, splash and play in naturalistic water features, bring out their inner musician, and get physical with rockets and giant levers. The programs also feature projects, crafts, experiments, and adventures for young learners.
• Ages: 1–10 years old
• Schedule: Open most days from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some Fridays offering free or extended hours and additional programs
Kidspace Children’s Museum Programs are part of a nonprofit educational and cultural institution that hosts nearly 380,000 guests each year and offers more than 40 hands-on exhibits. The S. Mark Taper Foundation Early Childhood Learning Center is a specially designed babyspace offering sensory and developmental adventures for the youngest children. The Sunset Music Series features live interactive multicultural performances on select Fridays throughout the summer, with extended museum hours. Kidspace Children’s Museum Programs also include a Kidspace Campout that highlights camping out, exploring nature, water play, and road trips, as well as Learn at Home projects, crafts, experiments, and adventures and a video gallery for parents, teachers, and children. The mission of Kidspace Children’s Museum Programs is to nurture the potential of all children through kid-driven experiences, inspiring them to become joyful, active learners.
Kidspace Children’s Museum Programs offer a wide array of free and discounted programs, field trips, and digital resources for schools, and the Altadena Libraries’ Mobile Library visits as part of the museum programs. Membership options include free admission for member families, discounts, pre-sale events, and special experiences, and there is also a gift admission option to share a day of exploration, imagination, and play. Because there are water attractions, visitors are recommended to bring a towel and extra clothes.
Parent feedback mentions shaded areas for kids to play, explore, and climb, benches for parents, and that some families stay for many hours. Parents note that children enjoy the space, including areas in the back where kids can get wet and have a splash, and describe many activities and different playground opportunities that keep kids active and engaged. One parent recommends arriving early and bringing a towel and extra clothes due to the water attractions.
