Studios on the Park, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a creative, educational, and transformational experience to enhance understanding and appreciation of the visual arts, and it features artists working in a variety of media, educational programs for children and adults, and exhibitions by regional, national, and international artists. The organization was started by professional artist and long-time Paso Robles resident Anne Laddon, who leased the building in early summer 2007, with a temporary renovation completed in March 2009 that allowed Studios on the Park to open to the public. It serves over 100,000 students and visitors every year through its Kids Art Smart and Community Arts Access programs, and has collaborated with groups such as the California Blacksmith Association and the Templeton Historical Museum for exhibitions like “Metal as Medium: The Art of Contemporary Blacksmithing.”
Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for all Studios-sponsored classes with fees, space is limited, and walk-ins are only accommodated if space is available. Sign-language interpreters are available for an additional fee for classes that require pre-registration, with ten days’ advance notice. Payment by cash or check payable to Studios on the Park is preferred, but credit cards are also accepted. If a participant cannot attend a class they have registered for, they must cancel one week in advance to receive a refund, and if they cancel less than one week in advance, the fee may be applied to a future class. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and clay projects are fired and made available for pick-up at a later date.
