About

Sunday Morning Keiko offers karate, martial arts, and budo training through online training, live classes on Zoom, individual online sessions, small group online sessions, seminars, and training events. Live online training with Rick Hotton Sensei is broadcast from the Sanctuary, and one live online class is offered each weekend, with days and times alternating to be accessible for time zones around the world. Classes are open to all, regardless of style, experience level, or affiliation, and membership is open to all.

• Ages: 10–18 years old
• Schedule: Individual and small group online sessions are one hour; seasonal training events include the 2026 California Spring Keiko on April 11–12, with two sessions each day.
• Price: Individual and Small Group online sessions: $80 per student for an individual session, $60 per student for two in a session, and $50 per student for three in a session.

Sunday Morning Keiko is a non-exclusive karate and budo community that advances a spiritual as well as physical approach to the study of the arts. It does not issue rank or accreditation, and instead offers resources through various forms of media in the members section of its site along with seasonal training events. Events are meant to cultivate deep learning and personal relevance for each student’s own journey, with no requirements other than curiosity and willingness, and any style of practice or affiliation is welcome. Sunday Morning Keiko members receive a discount on the fee for online training, and class size is limited to allow for individual feedback. The program also offers remote membership in Hotton Sensei’s West Wind Dojo with weekly live classes on Zoom.

The leadership team includes Rick Hotton Sensei, Melissa Bell Sensei, Scott Langley Sensei, and Benny Urquidez. Hotton Sensei’s West Wind Dojo curriculum developed from over 50 years of his own practice and unique approach, and 2026 marks his 50th year teaching karate.

Sunday Morning Keiko describes itself as a community celebrating the budo journey and is proud to host the ninth annual Florida Winter Keiko. It welcomes practitioners from all styles to join in a celebration of keiko and a weekend filled with fellowship and goodwill. A testimonial associated with the program states, “although the doorway is narrow, go deeply inward.”
