About

Christ the King CYO Basketball is a youth basketball program where participants play and practice basketball. The program uses both the Christ The King Gym and CTK Parish Hall for its basketball activities.

• Ages: 8–14 years old

With more than a 30 year history, Christ the King CYO Basketball is part of the Catholic Youth Organization sponsored by Christ The King parish as one dimension of the total youth ministry experience. The program’s stated mission is to use athletic programs to help young people develop tools for success, foster an attitude to help improve communities in a changing world, encourage community relationships, and instill Christian attitudes and responsibilities among participants. The program states that it strives to run a competitive basketball program at all ages but that its primary goal is not to count wins or losses, and that its priority is to encourage strong community and Christian value while building sportsmanship, team commitment, great attitude, and sport competency. Christ the King CYO reports that it has helped nearly 10,000 children stay active in after school activities and is widely considered one of the largest non-profit basketball youth programs in Contra Costa County, with an unmatched history of success on the floor and in the community. The program notes that fall/winter registration is now closed, that it holds a CYO Crab Feed event in the Christ The King Gym, and that it organizes a picture day where individual photos are combined into team pictures. The program also shares FastBreak Basketball Camp for Girls information as a local girls’ basketball camp opportunity.
