About
I.S. Kim's Martial Arts offers traditional Taekwondo instruction and Judo instruction in a family-run dojo setting. The program includes Taekwondo classes, Judo classes, Olympic-style Taekwondo sparring, as well as Judo throwing, grappling, and submission. It also offers an elite competition program that develops athletes for USA Judo events at the regional, national, and international level.
• Ages: 3.5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Friday late afternoon to evening, and Saturday morning
I.S. Kim's Martial Arts has served the Pleasant Hill community for over two decades and was founded in 1977. The Taekwondo curriculum spans traditional curriculum through Olympic-style sparring, and the Judo curriculum begins at age 7 and runs through competitive shiai. Programs are available for recreational practitioners and world-class competitors, with a free trial class available. The mission of I.S. Kim's Martial Arts is building strong people through martial arts and developing character, discipline, and champions on and off the mat, with a stated deeper mission to build strong people.
The leadership team includes Grand Master In Shik Kim (Founder & Head Master), Master Jennifer Kim (Children's Program), and Master Josh Park (Competition Team). Coaches are nationally certified through USA Taekwondo and USA Judo. Grand Master In Shik Kim is a graduate of Yong In University. Master Jennifer Kim has over 35 years of martial arts experience and is a graduate of UC Davis with a degree in Child Development. Master Josh Park has been practicing martial arts for over 32 years and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Economics.
I.S. Kim's Martial Arts is affiliated with USA Taekwondo and USA Judo. The program reports over 50 years of coaching champions and national title holders in Taekwondo and Judo.
