Pleasanton Junior Football League is a co-ed, non-profit youth sports organization that focuses on teaching the fundamentals of football and cheer. For tackle football and cheerleading, players are placed on teams by birthdate, weight, and experience. The 8v8 co-ed flag football league is open to 2nd–8th graders and includes NFL-branded jerseys, shorts, flags, and football camps, and the 7v7 division is open to boys and girls in grades 2–8. All practices and home games take place at Ken Mercer Sports Park and Patelco Sports Complex.

Coaches and volunteers receive USA Football Youth Coach Certification, First Aid and CPR training, background checks for coaches, access to coaching tools and resources, and ongoing mentorship and league support, and no previous coaching experience is required. The league’s mission states that it aims to provide a fun, safe, and inclusive football experience with a focus on teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, respect, equal opportunity to learn, compete, and lead, and building confident, character-driven individuals through coaching, mentorship, and community support.

Founded in 1969, Pleasanton Junior Football League notes that it has been parent and sponsor-funded since 1969 and describes itself as building champions on and off the field since that time. The organization reports celebrating 56 years of flag football, community, and character development, and states that it has proudly served the Pleasanton and Tri-Valley area for over five decades while keeping youth sports local, organized, and community-driven. The league lists an 8U Undefeated Bowl Champions title among its credentials and provides free USA Football Youth Coach Certification for coaches.
