• Ages: 8–13 years old
• Schedule: Evaluations in late August, practices starting in early October, and games running from late October through mid-February
• Price: Early Bird $375 till Aug 15, 2026; Regular $425 from Aug 15, 2026
CYO started in Chicago in 1930 and came to Pleasanton in 1971, with the Catholic Community of Pleasanton established in 1971. The program’s mission states that it teaches kids to play hard and play fair, competing with intensity and respect for teammates, opponents, referees, and the game itself, and that winning matters but how players win matters more. The mission also states that basketball is the vehicle for lessons in discipline, teamwork, and leadership, that kids leave the league as better players and better humans, and that the goal is for every kid to end the season more excited about basketball than when they arrived. CCOP CYO is run entirely by volunteers who are Pleasanton families that have been part of the program as coaches, players, or parents, and it is open to all kids in grades 3–8 regardless of faith or parish affiliation. CCOP (Catholic Community of Pleasanton) is described as a parish with two campuses at St. Augustine and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
The leadership team includes John Baer (Athletic Director), Jocelyn Martin (Communications & Social Media), Gael Knight (Treasurer), Vana Hoang (Referee Coordinator), Adi Rodrigues (Marketing & Registration), Priya (Community Outreach), Brad Gersich (Advisor), and Greg Thome (Advisor). CCOP CYO is a member of the Tri-Valley CYO League in the Oakland Diocese, co-sponsors with the City of Pleasanton, and works closely with PUSD for gym access, competing alongside programs from Dublin, Livermore, San Ramon, and Danville.
