Pleasanton Youth Theater Company & Youth Art Programs

Pleasanton Youth Theater Company & Youth Art Programs offers youth theater productions with the Pleasanton Youth Theater Company, the PYTC Cabaret, theater workshops, and musical theater programs including Sprout Performers & Lil Sprouts, Center Stage, and Encore Ensemble. The program also includes Creatures of Impulse, an award-winning improv troupe that specializes in long-form improv in play or musical forms. Youth art activities include art classes and camps with drawing, painting, and sculpting for a range of experience levels from beginners to experienced artists. PYTC Cabaret combines musical theater with cabaret and includes workshops on stage movement, character development, and storytelling, and it encourages collaboration and teamwork among participants.

These activities are taught, directed, and produced by theater professionals. Creatures of Impulse is an award-winning improv troupe founded in the City of Pleasanton and is now entering its 16th season. The Firehouse Arts Center states that it is designed to promote participation in recreational experiences as they relate to the arts. The Firehouse Arts Center offers both performing arts and visual arts programs and maintains the Harrington Gallery, which has a rotating schedule of art installations featuring different media, themes, and styles. The Firehouse Arts Center also features recycled materials, solar panels that supply part of the building’s electricity needs, sculptural bicycle racks, and high efficiency climate controls, and it includes a theater with flexible seating for different staging formats.
