First Tee Tri-Valley was formed in October 2005. The mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Junior golf programs at First Tee Tri-Valley build self confidence and inspire active participation in leadership opportunities and events, community involvement, and college scholarships. Trained coaches provide an introduction to junior golf and an opportunity to enhance golf skills while creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. The Eagle Team is for ages 11–14 as a competitive middle school team with play days, classes, and special events planned throughout the year, and the team plays from August to June. The Ace Capstone Course for age 14+ is a capstone program for high school teens that integrates skills and inner strengths developed at First Tee and points them toward exploring, investing in, and building a clear plan and assets for their next step. First Tee Tri-Valley was formed by a group of local business leaders and golf professionals to make golfing more accessible throughout the Tri-Valley and Greater Alameda County with specifically targeted financial support, and many of their programs are offered free of charge to participant families, whose children can benefit from their character education curriculum the most. First Tee Tri-Valley is the local chapter for Alamo, Castro Valley, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo, Dublin, Fremont, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Sunol.
