Shining Light Preschool

Shining Light Preschool includes activities such as Preschool Themes & Letters of the Week, Learning Centers & Fine Motor Skills, Crafts, Science & Cooking, Creative and Dramatic Play, and Music & Movement. Children take part in Special Events & Field Trips, Monthly Chapels, and themed days such as Bike & Spirit Day. Family and seasonal events include an Ice Cream Social, Pumpkin Patch visit, Hatching Baby Chicks, Thankful Feast, Christmas Program, Easter Celebration, Mom & Me Tea and Slide Show, and a Spring Carnival.

• Schedule: Half-day preschool with part-time programs and extended care options between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, including morning classes Monday–Friday and specific MTW TK and afternoon programs

Shining Light Preschool is a Christian, half-day preschool with extended care and is a ministry of Valley Community Church. The program includes a Transitional Kindergarten curriculum that uses Zoo Phonics and Learning Without Tears to foster Kindergarten readiness skills. Classes are small, with about 10 to 12 children per class and a ratio of 1 adult to 6 children, including the co-op. Diapers are accepted. A parent co-op option includes helping in the classroom about once a month, and non–co-op spots are available for a small fee. The program states that it offers a safe, fun environment for children to develop an enthusiasm for learning and an excitement for Jesus, and it uses a “God & Me” curriculum with topics such as God as Friend, Protector and Provider, Giver of the Best Gift Ever (Baby Jesus), Jesus as Wise and Loving, Faithful to Keep His Promise, Forgiving, Always with Me, and Wonderful and Awesome. Shining Light Preschool is a licensed program (License # 13413946) and admits students of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin and states that it does not discriminate on these bases in its policies and programs. The program is led by Director Kelly McIntosh.
